Giving Trunk$ (“Giving Trunk$,” “we,” “us”) is a purposeful gifting platform for families. Parents create and control the experience, children build wish lists and learn about money, and friends and relatives can give a gift without creating an account. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Who this policy is for

This policy covers parents and guardians who create accounts, the children whose profiles parents set up, and gift-giverswho use a shared link to give a gift. Children do not create their own accounts — a parent or guardian always sets up and controls a child’s profile.

What we collect

From parents: your name, email address, and account login credentials, plus the settings you choose (such as budget caps and gift approvals).

About children (entered by the parent):a first name, an avatar, an age or age range, wish-list items, and gifting activity such as thank-you notes. We do not collect a child’s last name, home address, phone number, precise birthdate, or photograph — Giving Trunk$ uses emoji avatars only, never uploaded photos of children.

From gift-givers:if you use a shared gift link, we may collect a name and an optional message so the family can thank you. Gift-givers do not need an account, and they never see a family’s dashboard, budgets, or other gifts.

Automatically: basic technical information such as log and device data that keeps the service secure and working. We do not use this information to advertise to you or your children.

How we use information

We use information only to operate and improve Giving Trunk$ — to create and manage wish lists, enable the Buy It, Give It, and Save It lanes, deliver the Money School lessons and games, send thank-you notes, and provide customer support. We do not use your family’s information for advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles of children.

Children’s privacy & COPPA

Giving Trunk$ is a family service committed to compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). A parent or guardian creates the account, sets up each child’s profile, and must provide consent before any information about a child under 13 is collected. We are implementing verifiable parental consent (VPC) procedures consistent with COPPA’s requirements, and we collect only the limited information described in this policy.

At any time, a parent may review, correct, or delete the information associated with their child, or withdraw consent and stop any further collection by closing the account. To make a request, contact us at the email below.

How we share information — and how we don’t

We never sell or rent your information.We share information only with the service providers that help us run Giving Trunk$ — for example, secure hosting, our database, and email delivery — and only so they can perform those services for us, not for their own purposes.

When your family chooses to buy a gift from a retailer or donate to a charity, that purchase or donation happens on the third party’s own site and is governed by their privacy policy. We do not send a child’s information to retailers.

We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of families using Giving Trunk$.

Your choices and parental controls

Parents can review, edit, or delete their child’s information, and can close the account at any time. Closing an account deletes the associated family and child information from our active systems. If you have a question or request, email us and we will help.

Data retention

We keep information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. When you delete information or close your account, we remove it from our active systems, except where we are required to keep limited records to meet legal obligations.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your family’s information. No online service can promise perfect security, but protecting children’s information is a priority in how we build Giving Trunk$.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify parents. Your continued use of Giving Trunk$ after a change means you accept the updated policy.
